ELSA is represented in 36 countries, giving voice to more than 25,000 individual members from more than 200 universities. Each year since 1981, ELSA has been dedicated to provide opportunities for law students and young lawyers and to assist them to be internationally minded and professionally skilled. Our focus is on encouraging individuals to act for the good of society in order to realise our vision:

"A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity."

Underlying everything we do is a drive to make a positive contribution to legal education and to make our members LEARN, BE and ACT for the good of society. We develop youth by providing a series of learning experiences linked to a diversity of activities in the legal field such as Legal Research Groups, Moot Court Competitions, Seminars & Conferences, and the Student Trainee Exchange Programme

ELSA, founded by law students from Austria, Western Germany, Hungary and Poland in Vienna on 04 May 1981, celebrated its 26th Anniversary in 2007. ELSA is the world largest independent law students’ association.
